William HAWKS who died [May ye] 24 1778 aged 67 years [BR: "1778 26 May HAWKES William". See E30, E31 & E32, memorials for his daughter, wife and son. William was born in 1711, and was 4 years younger than his wife. They were married by license at St Mary Magdalen Oxford on August 29th 1737, when he was 26 and his wife 30. The license gives his wife's surname as Carter, from North Leigh. William was said to have come from Barnsley in Gloucestershire. ]
