Headstone, tall, with arc top. The inscription faces east and is backed by the west facing stone, E57A. There is a body stone, with no inscription. The headstone inscription is very deeply incised and the lettering is particularly wide, so that the width of some letters exceed the height.
to the memory of John FRENCH who died Nov 27th 1832 aged 79 years. [eight lines of indecipherable inscription follow - possibly a bible verse ] Also of Mary his wife who died Janr. 10th 1837 aged 81 years [BR - "1832 30 Nov FRENCH John 79yrs North Leigh" -- AND -- "1837 13 Jan FRENCH Mary 77yrs New Yatt". Marriage Record: "1778 5 Oct FRENCH John North Leigh ; TREDWELL Mary (X) North Leigh Banns; Wits: William DAVIS, John PAMER (X)" - six children of John & Mary were baptised between 1780 and 1796. ]
