Chest Tomb. Mitred top. Casket shaped, with flat sides angled outwards, standing on a double plinth. The whole structure was canted over by a tree, since felled. The top slab has shifted to one side and is near the point of falling. There was previously a large amount of ivy on the sides, and this has been killed off, but the remains of the dead stems are still partially coating the inscription. There are inscriptions on the north and west sides, but nothing on the other two sides. The inscription on the north side:
Sacred to the memory of Elizabeth wife of James BROWN who departed this life March 9. 18[4]1 aged 48 years In lively and steadfast hope of a blessed immortality
Inscription on the west side:
In [eternal] memory of Mary Ann[-] the daughter of James and Elizth. BROWN who departed this life December 27th. 18[53] aged [2]7 years <7 illegible lines of verse>
[BR: - "1840 -- --- BROWN Elizabeth 40yrs Coggs" -- AND -- "1853 29 Dec BROWN Mary Ann 28yrs Coggs" See also F22.]
