[ BR: "1875 24 Jun SHEPHERD Joseph 78yrs North Leigh" . Joseph is the son of Sarah & Joseph SHEPHERD (H55 & H56). His 2nd wife and daughter are commemorated on H59. There is no record in North Leigh to his 3rd marriage or to the death of his 3rd wife Mary, but she was living as a widow in Shipton under Wychwood in 1881. In the 1861 census Joseph is listed as a Baker & Miller, and his wife Mary is shown as having been born in N. Moreton, Berks. Joseph is also known to have built North Leigh windmill in 1833. ]
