Headstone, gothic top. Decorated top centre by a raised cross on a plinth. This is enclosed by a hood-shaped raised bead, with flowers having 9 long petals either side. The first line of the inscription circles around the cross. The lower part of the stone is losing its surface due to spalling. The inscription faces west.
In affectionate remembrance of Hannah, the wife of James FAULKS, who died Aug 31 1871, aged 56 years. Looking for that blessed hope and the glorious appearing of the great God and our saviour Jesus Christ. Tit. II 13 Also of James FAULKS who [died] at Islip, Oxon September 1[6]th 189[9], aged 76 years. Interred here.
[BR: "1871 3 Sep FAULKS Hannah 56yrs North Leigh" -- AND -- "1899 19 Sep FAULKS James 76yrs Islip". In the 1871 census, Hannah was living with her brother in law John Faulks. She was aged 55 and was born in Lechlade. John was born in Bromley and was an Assistant Overseer. They lived next door to the Vicarage, and John's daughter Mary was an Infant Schoolmistress. In 1871, James was a lodger in Fairford, and listed as a Retired Licensed Victualler and Landed Proprietor, born in Milton, Oxon. See H79, Hannah's sister in law. ]
